How will the Alamo City will develop over the next 10 years? More housing development, businesses, and an expanded college campus – just what San Antonio needs to become a world class city. That’s according to Centro San Antonio, which announced its ‘Downtown Tomorrow’ strategy Tuesday.
UTSA’s new School of Data Science is one of the projects taking the lead in making downtown stand out. City officials say this is an epicenter of high-tech research and education.
San Pedro 1, the new home for UTSA’s downtown campus linked to San Antonio’s downtown core.
“Access to jobs. Access to careers,” explained Veronica Salazar from UTSA.
Salazar says it will bring in an additional 10,000 students to the school’s already 35,000 student body. She adds graduates should feed right into the San Antonio economy.
“We’re doing economic development and social mobility with this work,” says Salazar.
