Spend Your Summer on the Riverwalk

The historic San Antonio Riverwalk often plays host to celebrations for the city. And that tradition continues during the hot summer. Here are some fun celebrations and ongoing events happening this summer at the Riverwalk and surrounding areas.

Kayaking

Friday-Monday

You can know kayak along the famous San Antonio Riverwalk. You have the option of renting a kayak or bringing your own. The route is about 3.25 miles long. Reservations are required.

 

Farmers Market

Every Weekend

The Pearl has an outstanding outdoor market every weekend. On Saturday, 9am to 1pm, is a farmers market and on Sunday, 10am to 2pm, is a makers market.

Party on the Plaza

Friday Nights

The Tower of the Americas hosts a free concert every Friday evening. The night will include awesome live music, food, and fun for the whole family. The event is from 7pm to 11pm. Their website includes the lineup.

Black History River Cruise

July 2, July 16, August 6

The San Antonio African American Community & Archive now offers a 90-minute cruise along the San Antonio River where you can explore San Antonio’s Black history. Tickets are required.

Bud Light Stars, Stripes, & Lights

July 2-5

The Riverwalk will be ready for a great 4th of July celebration thanks to Bud Light. The bridges and trees will be decked out in red, white, and blue.

Local Artisan Show

July 2-5, August 6-8

The Hilton Hotels of San Antonio is having a local artisan show featuring over 40 artisans. The booths will be set up close to the Shops at Rivercenter. The artists will be selling handmade items including paintings, beadwork, jewelry, and so much more.

Armed Forces River Parade

July 3

This free event is to honor all the men and women in all branches of the United States Armed Forces. This is one of the largest parades held on the Riverwalk, so get there early to get a great view of the beautifully decorated floats. The parade will begin at 11am and last about an hour.

313th Army Band Performance

July 3

Following the river parade, there will be a musical permanence on the Arneson River Theatre Stage by the 313th Reserve Army Band from Birmingham. This free concert will have you dancing to your favorite songs as well as some patriotic songs to help celebrate the 4th of July.

Summer Market Day

July 17

The Tower of the Americas is hosting a free market day featuring over 30 local vendors. This family-friendly event will have plenty of food and music to enjoy. The event will be from 11am – 4pm.

The Brewery Comedy Tour

July 19

This national comedy tour has stopped in San Antonio for a night and will be held at Pat O’Briens. Top comedians will be spending their evening making you laugh while having a great time with your friends. Tickets are required for this event. 

Culinaria Restaurant Week

August 14-28

Participating restaurants around all around San Antonio, including the Riverwalk, will whip up a special menu for this bi-annual event. It’s a great way to find a new favorite restaurant while supporting local businesses. 

Ford Parade of Lanterns

August 27-29

 Every year this free parade features 26-foot-long boats magnificently decorated and full of bright lanterns. The parade will be from 9-10pm, weather permitting. 

Have fun this summer at these lively events along the Riverwalk and downtown San Antonio. Be sure to wear sunscreen and drink plenty of water!
