La Villita steak house will reopen as beer garden

After closing last year, the Little Rhein Steakhouse will reopen as a new beer garden by Mad Dogs Management Group and Borgfeld Stagestop LLC.

Little Rhein Prost Haus, in the historic Otto Bombach House at La Villita, will open on March 15, according to a news release. CEO of Mad Dogs Management Group Terry Corless said the mid-19th century building was a fitting spot for a beer garden.

“I couldn’t believe my luck when my friend, Scott Gruendler, called me about this perfect space in La Villita on the Riverwalk,” Corless said. “Although the Covid-19 pandemic has caused incredible challenges to survival in the tourism business, the Bombach House was simply too perfect to ignore.”

The interior will feature a "Bavarian bier room" with over 50 draft beers.

Little Rhein Prost Haus, “prost” meaning cheers in German, will offer over 20 draft beers imported from Munich or craft-brewed locally.

The menu will be comprised of German fare including various schnitzels, German potato salads, brats and sausages of all types, sauerkraut, red cabbage, homemade beer cheese, German grain mustards, apple strudel, burgers, chicken sandwiches, salads and more.

Little Rhein Prost Haus is at 231 S. Alamo near the Arneson River Theatre.
