San Antonio does not lack for artists and artisans, which means that it’s a pretty great place to find distinctive gifts.

Here are a few suggestions for studios and websites that gift-givers can visit to pick up all sorts of things made right here in the city.

Holidays on Houston Street: Folks who are spending some time downtown might want to check out Centro San Antonio’s holiday pop-ups. Seven small businesses are operating in two neighboring storefront spaces. Occupying the window berth on one side is Agave Muerto Clay, which makes and sells all kinds of functional ceramics, including mugs and pots. On the other side is Inspired Wraps, which offers inventive gift baskets of all stripes as well as custom gift wrapping – the perfect spot to end a successful shopping venture.

Several other businesses in the spaces offer accessories. Interwoven Collective sells jewelry and leather goods made by women in Ethiopia. Pria Handmade Accessories has a brightly it spot filled with earrings, necklaces, hats and hair accessories. And Vida Handbags sells purses handmade by artisans in Mexico. The other businesses are Pure Aloha Beauty, a line of skincare products made with all-natural ingredients; and Urban Goods, which specializes in vintage interiors.
