Centro San Antonio has announced that starting March 1, 2022, the minimum wage for its Ambassador team will increase from $11 to $15 per hour. This includes a $1.50 per hour wage increase for team members who were already at or above a $15 per hour wage.

Centro CEO Matt Brown announced the pay increase at an ice cream social held for the Ambassador team in Peacock Alley on Tuesday, February 22 at 2:00 p.m. “When people talk about how beautiful our city is, how welcoming our city is, how incredible it is to visit here, to work here, to live here- it’s the Ambassadors who come first and foremost to everyone’s minds,” he said before announcing the increase.

Brown explained that the Centro Board looked at a variety of factors when making this decision, including the profoundly impactful work of the Ambassador Team, Centro’s increased financial resilience, and external factors such as inflation.

“This wage increase will make us a competitive employer and allow us to add the most dedicated, passionate people to our team,” Brown explained. “Recruiting and retaining that talent will help us to create a more beautiful, welcoming, playful, and prosperous downtown in the spirit
